Permeable concrete

Permeable concrete lets rainwater drain straight through the slab into the ground beneath instead of running off. We install it for driveways, car parks and paths where stormwater rules, tree roots or drainage make a standard slab impractical.

Based in Keilor East, Melbourne. Working across metropolitan and regional Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia.

Permeable concrete installation

What it includes

  • Permeable (no-fines) concrete surfaces
  • Sub-base design for drainage
  • Edge restraints and transitions
  • Colour and finish options

Good for

  • Driveways under stormwater limits
  • Car parks and overflow parking
  • Paths near established trees
  • Council and commercial projects

How it runs

  1. Site visit to check soil drainage and falls
  2. Scope covering sub-base, thickness and edges
  3. Place and compact to maintain the open structure
  4. Cure and protect
  5. Maintenance notes to keep it draining

Questions we get asked

Does permeable concrete clog?

It can over years if fine material washes onto it. Occasional pressure washing or vacuum sweeping keeps it draining. We explain this at handover.

Is it as strong as normal concrete?

It's designed for lighter loads: cars, paths and light vehicles. For heavy traffic we'd recommend a standard slab with separate drainage.
